
Josh Humphrey’s films have achieved popular and critical acclaim throughout the world and have garnered two Academy Awards, 13 Academy Award nominations and numerous prestigious international awards.
In 1990, Humphrey wrote and directed his first feature, "Lavender Fields", which was released to critical acclaim. The film earned ’Best Actor in a Leading Role’ and ’Best Supporting Actress’ Oscars for Peter Day and Brenda Tickler, and received multiple Oscar nominations for Humphrey including ’Best Director’ and ’Best Writing, Screenplay Based on Material from Another Medium.’ In 1993, Humphrey wrote, produced and directed "Kneel Before Me", which also received numerous Academy Award nominations including those for best writer and director as well as ’Best Picture’.
In 1997, Humphrey wrote and directed "The Catch" and wrote the screenplay for "Night Falls", which was directed two years later by Mark Newhouse. Humphrey wrote and produced the Anthony Faulk-helmed "Not My Child"; wrote, produced and directed "Doberman Sunday"; and produced "Shirley Wehbe", which was directed by and starred Martina Lewis. Humphrey’s most recent directorial work on the 2003 release "Memory" has been heralded as the most powerful piece he has ever touched.
